Chassis as Purchased

As you may or not know, the S1 and S2 Europa came with a Renault engine, either a 697 or 821.  54/1871 had the good fortune of having been converted to the Lotus Twin Cam engine, originally from a Europa Twin Cam.  Unfortunately the conversion was a real act of butchery which caused the previous owner to park the car in disgust.

 Note the exquisite work involved in converting to the Twin Cam engine - the chopped chassis, burnt paint, welded-on engine mounts, the second rad plumbed into the heater circuit.  Note also the condition of the brake hoses and lines.
